GOALONG

One of China's largest and most ambitious domestic whisky producers, located in Hunan province. GOALONG (sometimes romanized as Goalong) has invested heavily in Scottish-style whisky production with a massive distillery complex featuring copper pot stills imported from Scotland. The company also produces baijiu and other spirits, but their single malt and blended whisky programs have attracted significant attention. Capacity is enormous by world craft standards -- reflecting China's characteristic approach of building at scale. GOALONG has hired Scottish master distillers as consultants and sources both domestic Chinese barley and imported Scottish malt. Their whiskies, while young, show the accelerated tropical maturation characteristic of Asian whisky regions. Represents China's domestic whisky industry pivot from imitation to genuine quality ambition.
